At the Institute of Blind Yoga, we believe that yoga should be accessible to everyone. We believe that we all have the opportunity to create a future that is bright for everyone living with a disability and we have a plan on how to do it!
Together with amazing yoga teachers from around the world, we are going to create a yoga community that is inclusive and compassionate in their teaching of students with visually impaired disabilities.
Together we are going to reduce isolation and the sense of frustration for visually impaired students of all ages while increasing their level of confidence and sense of community!

My name is Leigh and I created the Institute of Blind Yoga. I believe that together we can make the yoga world a better place for everyone.
I have witnessed first hand the effects of losing your vision in the younger years of life since it happened to my mom. I have seen the struggles and challenges that someone who is visually impaired endures on a daily basis.
In 2013, my mom and I decided to take a yoga teacher training course. We knew that when we graduated we wanted to impact the lives of people that have disabilities or just trouble functioning without their glasses or contact lenses. It took us a while to complete our program (3 years in fact) but we did it.
It was through that training program that I really witnessed the struggles that my mom had with the physical practice, the space, the location of the studio, etc. Alas, the idea for the Institute of Blind Yoga was born.
I am looking forward to working with all the brilliant yoga teachers to make yoga accessible for everyone!
